Wellbeing Tip - Build Internal Trust

I'm back again with another wellbeing tip. Todays tip is about building our own internal trust to help us to feel more in control. Recent research has shown that sometimes when we experience anxiety or fear it can be because we feel that we have a lack of control - specifically we don’t feel very safe within ourselves.

A quick and easy way that we can start to build a feeling of internal trust is by making and keeping small promises to ourselves. The real key is that it has to be small enough that we can keep to those promises because if we make promises and break them, that has the opposite effect, and leads us to have a lack of trust. If we keep small promises, the subconscious mind starts to relax as it knows it is in trusting hands. This can be something really small like 'I'm going to go to bed by 11:30 every night this week', or 'I'm going to have an hour phone break.' If we stick to them, over time we start to build that trust.
